On a daily basis, about 30,000 people all over the world die unnecessarily of hunger and related, preventable diseases like diarrhea, cholera and malnutrition. Of this number, about half of them are children, making the death toll one child every five seconds.
Hunger is not just a global issue, but it's also a problem in North America. In the United States alone, about 38.2 million people – including 14 million children – live in households that experience hunger or the risk of hunger. This represents one in ten households (11.9%).
For this reason, we are joining CRWRC to support the World Hunger Campaign by doing a 15 day devotional to raise money for world hunger.
World Hunger Devotionals
This year, the theme for CRWRC's World Hunger Campaign is “For Such a Time as This," which ties to the Esther story. Just like Esther was used by God to save the Jewish people from Haman, so God is using everyday men and women around the world to improve communities and break the cycle of poverty.
November 4th – Devotionals and Peter Fish (banks) are made available
November 11th – Official kick-off of the World Hunger Campaign
November 25th – World Hunger offering taken
